School Policies
2022-2023 Student Handbook - COMING SOON!
All volunteers and chaperones must be approved by Darlington County School District. In order to volunteer in the classroom, at special events or to be considered as a chaperone on a field trip, parents and guardians must complete the online Volunteer Application and Background Check. A copy of your drivers license and social security card are required. There is a $15 fee for the SLED check. Please allow a minimum of 2-3 weeks for the approval process before checking on your status. Please click here to complete the online volunteer forms.
If you would like to assist in the classroom at the teacher's request, you must be an approved volunteer. Unapproved visitors are not permitted to volunteer in the classroom.
Chaperones for field trips are sometimes needed at the discretion of the teacher. There is limited availability and space to accommodate chaperones on our buses. Pre-approved volunteers will be permitted to request to chaperone. Only chaperones selected by the teacher will be permitted to attend the event and are required to ride the bus to and from the event. No additional family members, including children, will be permitted to accompany the class at the event. No parent/guardian may attend unless approved and no students will be permitted to be picked up or dropped off at the field trip by personal vehicles. Please contact your child's teacher if you wish to chaperone or volunteer.

Changes in Afternoon Transportation
All changes in transportation MUST be made in writing. You may send in a written note in your child’s red folder or send a message via ClassTag to your child’s teacher no later than 1:00 pm. Students may change from bus rider to car rider or you may authorize a one-time pick up from someone not on your child’s approved list.
Afternoon Procedures For Car Riders
All cars will line up on Southside Drive, the road across the street facing the school and proceed to the right or left onto the school campus depending on the color of the car tag that was given to you during registration. We will have two loading areas. We will have staff to assist in these areas.
You or the designated person to pick up your child must have a school issued car rider tag or show check in ticket from the PikMyKid app. If you do not, you will be asked to pull out of the car line and go into the office with your identification. If the person’s name is not on the sign out list they will not receive your child. There will be no exception to this procedure.
If you have more than one child enrolled, the older student(s) will be sent to the younger student(s) car line. (Ex. 5K student will go to the 4K car line)
-
Special Needs students will have a white car tag. Line up prior to dismissal time along Blanding Drive (across from the parking lot) until special needs buses have exited. They will turn LEFT into the front entrance of the school at 1:40 for car rider dismissal.
-
Area #1- (5k students) Blue car tag will turn RIGHT off Southside Drive and proceed to the school parking lot near the ball field. Once you enter the school’s parking lot, you will form two lines of traffic that will feed into one line so that your child may be safely loaded into your car. Dismissal at 2:00 for car riders. The crossing guard or a staff member will direct you when to proceed to the parking lot.
-
Area #2- (4k students) Orange Car tag will turn LEFT off Southside Drive and enter the driveway in the front of the school. 4K waiting line is on Southside Drive, line up on the left side of the street so you can make the left turn. Dismissal will be at 1:50 for car riders. Once special needs has completed dismissal, you will be directed to enter the parking lot from a staff member or crossing guard.
-
Please do not come and get in front of another parent who has been waiting in line as requested. Please also do not enter the parking lot from another direction as you may also be cutting the line in front of parents already waiting. If you arrive before the dismissal time for car riders, you will need to get in the line on Southside Drive. Cars are not allowed to come onto the parking lot until all buses are gone.
-
If you must sign your child out early, school and district policy require you do so 30 minutes before dismissal which is 1:20 p.m. If you come after 1:20, you will be requested to wait until car riders’ dismissal at 2:00 pm. You MUST have a photo ID each time and be on the sign out list. Please keep early sign outs to a minimum as instructional time does not end until dismissal.
Thank you for your cooperation in order to ensure the safety of all our children.
